The Belarus transit visa issue was a critical issue for many fans, that plan to visit Minsk and other cities. As well as taking a flight or a train, including Free Trains between Kaliningrad and Moscow.
Today a new agreement between Russia and Belarus was signed: a temporary agreement on mutual visa recognition for the upcoming large sports events. It means, that World Cup FanID can be used to cross Belarus border.
Still to find an official text of the agreement, but I believe that the Belarus Transit Puzzle is finally solved.
Several traveling fans asked us for a secure option to leave a car in Kaliningrad. Unfortunately Stadium Parking will be closed for security reasons. According to the latest news, a new agreement between Russia and Belarus will be signed in Q1 2018. A mutual recognition of visas was discussed. If that really happens, then you probably will be able to travel to Kaliningrad via Minsk with only one visa, Belarus or Russian one. No details published yet, no idea how it will affect Football Fans, Fan IDs and free trains for the FIFA World Cup. But let’s hope for the best and wait for good news to come. Belarus is an interesting tourist destination. Also, this will allow a lot of additional possible flight, train or bus connections.

Kaliningrad region has one airport Khrabrovo and it under reconstruction for the FIFA World Cup now. Most of the flights are domestic. Popular destinations are Saint Petersburg and three different Moscow airports: Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo.
Connection in those cities will be most popular option for those who will travel to see football matches for long distances.
Two more World Cup Host Cities have direct flights from Kaliningrad – to Yekaterinburg and Kazan. Second can be very useful for B2 team fans in June 2018.
Other Russian destinations are Novy Urengoy, Ufa, Cherepovec.
2017 was memorable for good news about international flights: now we got new flights to Berlin (Germany), Warsaw (Poland), Prague (Czech). Kaliningrad will host 4 matches during the FIFA Football World Cup in Russia. A lot of recent questions from traveling fans are related a very typical: where to stay before and after the matches. There are a lot of hotels and hostels around, not all are available for booking yet. Prices and availability will change in the following months many times.
